Sgt. Darrell "Shifty" Powers, member of the 101st Airborne Division, and immortalized in Stephen Ambrose's "Band of Brothers", has died at age 86.There is a very interesting story at the Civilian Marksmanship Program site, about trying to find his old M1 Garand among all the Mil-Surp rifles.

I remember reading "A Rifle for Shifty" when the story was first published. I love a story with a happy ending. Too bad Shifty can't take that piece with him.
