What's going on at Fukushima?

You'll be shocked to hear that the Press aren't reporting it right.  Seems there isn't any crisis at all, but the Press is either too ignorant or too eager for a ZOMGWE'REALLGOINGTODIE!!!!!1!!one!!! story that they're knowingly hyping a big, fat goose egg.

This is me, looking shocked.
If you don't read the newspaper, you're uninformed.  If you do read the newspaper, you're misinformed.

Friend if mine picked up a couple geiger counters a few years back. He needed them for some project he was working on. $300 for the pair. Sold them last week on e-bay for $600 each.

Is the media all Zomg! We're gonna die so they can get viewers, or do the people only watch because they want to hear zomg we're gonna die?

Hysteria sells, a quiet recitation of the facts doesn't. "Radiation levels are THREE times normal." is meaningless because the media won't tell us what "normal" is, how dangerous 3x normal is, or much else that would help us understand the gravity of the situation or put it in context.

I rare watch TV news and prefer to get my own facts from the Internet. You need a pretty strong filter either way, but I can vet what I see on the Internet much more readily than I can what I see on network or local TV news.
