Overheard on the Jetway

We're boarding our flight at DFW.  The Jetway isn't your usual through-the-door-to-the-plane straight shot.  It's surprisingly twisty and turny.
Me (to #2 Son): This is a maze of twisty passages, all alike.

Me: That's from what may be the oldest computer game.

The guy behind us: "ADVENT".  That was an awesome game.  We used to play it on the VAX.
J. Random Guy at the airport is horning in on our Techno-Geekery.  Wow.

Ha! Awesome story.

Our PDP 11/70 had that, plus a pretty fun B1 bomber game as well. ;-)

Huh- My PDP 8/e at Western Electric really could not play games. The thing was hooked up to a test set and a Teletype!

Great story though!

Lots of twisty mazes at DFW. I often look for the piece of cheese at the end :)

If I had known you guys were laying over in DFW, I could have picked you up and fed you a sandwich. In gratitude, you could have helped me with the 700 lbs of retaining wall stones I laid and 800 lbs of soil I shoveled for the raised flower bed.

I know... your loss. I make a really good sandwich :)

David, we tended a bit more towards the Moon Lander game, but there was a lot of Unix at work ...

Paladin, sadly, it was only a 90 minute layover. Happy to help you lay some stone, but wouldn't have had much time. I'll take a rain check on the sandwich, though.

I'll second Paladin.

Anytime you folks are coming through DFW let me know. We'll see if we can't hook up for some range time or at least a meal.
