Weary, Stale, Flat, and Unprofitable

Tam posted a bit ago about not feeling it.  I confess to some of that, as well.  For me, that's a bit strange.

After all, I've only been blogging three years (today my odometer will click over a half million visits, which is very nice indeed but strangely isn't inducing the Happy Dance I had imagined a year ago).

Some of it is feeling repetitive.  I've been sitting on a few Climate Change posts, not because they might not be timely, but because I've kind of said everything that I have to say on the matter.  Yeah, the databases are way screwed up, so we really don't know if we're warming or not.  Not sure I need to say it again.

Same thing with security.  It's screwed up, and the folks who should be leading the way for the rest of us seem as screwed up as anyone.  Seems like I've said it before.

And so increasingly I've been relying on snarkiness, or rants, or a quick funny cartoon or video.  Feh.

Not sure what to do about this.  It seems like this blog is too young to suffer blogger burnout.

I started a blog late last year because I had wonderful things to share with the world. But I find as time passes, I have fewer and fewer wonderful things to share. I don't know how anyone can keep it up day after day, if you don't have a whole team of people doing it, like the Gormogons.

I can relate.

Feeling down? Need more Cocktail blogging!
I've been "blogging" since 2004 and SiteMeter says I have 151,797 total visits - maybe it's broken. Who cares?

I've been feeling the same 'staleness' for awhile now. One thing I did recently was to remove Sitemeter from my page. Not surprisingly, I'm happier without it, and can go back to writing whenever/whatever I feel moved to contribute. And not to, for the inverse reason.

I wish I had your numbers. Four years of blogging, and I haven't even gotten 22,000 hits yet.

It's your blog! Do as you wish.
But thanks for all your help and support, regardless.
Take a break if you need to...

(I deleted the previous post, as I'm on heavy meds...oops!)

Same here, Boss. I've all but quit blogging for the time being. What I have done is trying to prepare more in case/when the bottom falls out. The more I research things, the more I realize I am not as ready as I could be.

Is everyone else prepared?

I love the free ice cream, but as others have said it is your Blog. When it becomes a chore instead of fun, let it go for a while.

It hit 100 degrees here today, that just adds to the doldrums.

I'm looking at my blog as a way to stay in touch with a bunch of people I consider as good friends I've never met. Let your muse go and blog outside your core competencies. I loved the posts about the lovely Mrs. Borepatch's theatre experiences and your work on Chez Borepatch.
And is all else fails you can get a puppy. Lots of posts there but sorry, Angus is taken. :)

I've been blogging a little over five years, but I haven't been doing it as much as I would like. Sometimes you just don't have anything to say.

The 9/11 truth is out on the internet.
This is the truth: The WTC was destroyed by 3 underground thermo-nuclear explosions. They were detonated by the US government which used this as an excuse to lead the US and its allies into invading Afghanistan and Iraq. All these wars and deaths were based on a lie.

Goebbels: “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.”

Will you help to tell the truth to the world?

Hey Anonymous -

The first time you came around, you were the comic relief. Good for a chuckle, and all that.

Bring some different funny material we can mock, you lazy bum.

Hey, I like rants, funny vids and cartoons. And, snark is one of my favorite things. While your climate change posts may seem redundant to you, I get a kick out you skewering the sciencytists.

Let's recap here. In the last year you've moved, started a new job, which new job has ended up with you opening FOB Borepatch, your father passed away, you've flown across the country more than Nancy Pelosi did when she was Speaker, Sons #1 and #2 are growing up on your, you've been away from the charming Mrs. Borepatch much more than you want AND you've still managed to make fun of gun grabbers, climate liars, keep us informed of threats to our wimpy Windoze based computers, and become a genuine, responsible gun owner.

Blog? I don't know when you find time to sleep and eat, let alone blog.

The only pressure here, is the pressure you are putting on yourself.

Take a breath, take a break. Enjoy your new life a bit. We'll be here when you've caught your breath.

Blogging is supposed to be fun, not work.

You're way ahead of me on carry-blogging.

Guys, thanks. And Dirtcrashr, I do need to do some more cocktailblogging.

Of course, the last time I did it was a pink drink and people scoffed. But still.

And TOTWTYTR, you're right. Been pretty tired lately. Nice to be back with the family.

Rest up. We'll be here when you get back.

For some reason I completely missed the fact that this was also your blogiversary post.

Congratulations! Three years is like thirty in Blog Years. :)
