I've often said that the people in NH (and Iowa to a lesser extent) experience presidential politics completely different from you and me. In Florida, we might see a presidential candidate once. We might even see them as something other than a distant talking dot if we get there a few hours early to get a good seat.
In NH, they apparently talk with each candidate personally as many times as they'd like. In the summer, as you drive around the countryside you'll hear things like, "Dammit, Mitt, stop trimming my hedges! I want them that way!!"
