If you look up Hilton Head in the dictionary, you'll likely find this:

Something that is sweet, almost to the point of being sickeningly so. As a derogatory descriptive, it means something that is affectedly dainty or quaint, or is way too sentimental.

Very SWPL.  Annoyingly SWPL.  Filled with annoying SWPLs.  Other than that, it was awesome.  I much prefer Myrtle Beach - the northern part is very nice, and you lose (most of) the annoying SWPL attitude.

Bah.  We moved to Savannah, which is very nice indeed, and sort of SWPL.  But also incredibly historic, which rescues it from the "annoyingly SWPL" category.  And the trip from Hilton Head to Savannah takes you right past the Museum of the 8th Airforce, which is so filled with Win that all the Win is leaking out the doors.  More on that anon, but he
