Awesome, covered with awesomesauce
"Autumn Leaves" ("Les Feuilles Mortes") was Yves Montand's signature song in the post war years. Savannah's Johnny Mercer translated the French lyrics into English, and Duke Ellington made an absolutely fabulous recording of the song, in both French and English. Blues meets Jazz meets France meets Savannah, all rolled up into what may be my favorite song ever.
The world is a strange place, but when the interconnections work, man do they ever work.
