Anyone who ever built something with a young boy - or built something with their Dad as a young boy, go read this.
Right. Now. Don't make me want to change my tone.
Reading that, I though of my own Dad and me. I thought of myself and my kids. I can't stop smiling from the memories.
Via Isegoria, to whom I can only offer a heart felt thank you.

"Good thing we were not in the home appliance aisle, he might have needed a new freezer"
LOL!
That is one of the most touching stories I have ever read. There is no relationship quite like the one between a father and son.
THAT takes me back. Now I've got something in my eyes...
Ah geez, Now I've got a heck of a lump in my throat.
That was a great story ...
My biological father abandoned my mother before I was born and my step-father was abusive when drunk every payday Friday for a long time, so his story gave me a sense of what could have been.
Of course, I have had similar experiences with my daughters. Twice I built a flashing LED arrangement with one of my daughters, although she was older than 4 on both occasions and I did not let her do much of the soldering :-) Second time around she even understood enough to reattach wires to the breadboard in the right place when they came adrift (the only soldering was of the LEDs to the wires leading to the driver transistors and ground.)
So, in some sense I understand what the author means.
