Fresh eggs FTW
Some friends gave us some fresh eggs, which I had never had before. Wow, they're good.
The fresh egg has a yellow yolk; a store bought one has an orange yolk. Sadly, we ran out of the good ones.

We have 8 chickens, and we've had chickens pretty much constantly since I was 7 or so. Check your local ordinances, but around here if you're in city limits you can have 4 hens in your typical 'burban neighborhood. They're really easy to take care of, and, as you say, the eggs are incredibly better than those watery storebought ones.
When Zercool and his wife were trekking back and forth from old home to new while he looked for job and then settled, they'd stay at the Range and would always bring a bunch of fresh eggs. What a treat. I have a colleague that has chickens now. I occasionally trade baked goods for eggs. It's a good trade.
Fresh chicken tends to have a pale skin too, unlike the mass produced name brand poultry pieces you find at the supermarket. Perdue Farms developed a chicken feed with marigold blossoms in it to give the skin that color. Apparently they thought it sold better.

Fresh eggs are the best. You might try duck eggs sometime (caveat: apparently, about 5% of people are allergic to duck eggs, or so one hears).
What 'ya cooking? Just eggs? Give it over....
I have 4 chickens myself, they only have one down side. The three dozen eggs sitting in my fridge.

Yep, fresh is GOOD! :-)
Get yourself 2 hens! The bantam breeds are small and take up very little room. You'll never want to go back to store bought eggs again!
