Food porn: Garden fresh tomatoes

Tomatoes, still warm from the garden.  Basil from the garden, chopped into a chiffonade (roll up the leaves and slice into wee thin strips).  Fresh mozzarella.  A baguette baked that same day.  Salt and pepper (more than you think you need of each.  Good balsamic vinegar (you know you have the good stuff if it's thick).

Some assembly required.

I am immune to the large mutant seed filled cold tomato. Mom would try EVERYTHING to get me to eat one as a kid, including scolding and grounding.

Cooked I'm fine, sauce, bruschetta etc. But cold. .

But my Dad saw this bounty when I sent him the picture and gave you two thumbs up.

But I know you feel the same way about my beloved peas. . :-)

What Lissa said . . . where's the really good, first cold pressed olive oil?

If I may offer a wine alternative . . . look for "Antinori Orvieto Classic Campogrande" -- it is really fabulous stuff. You should be able to find it for about $12 a bottle.

Mangia, mangia !!!!!

Give me a chair in the tomato garden, and a shaker of celery salt, and I'm happy.
