So, did they read him his Miranda rights before they offed him?

Enjoy your dirt nap, scumbag.

UPDATE 1 May 2011 23:38: Is it me, or is Obama's speech really weak?  And poorly delivered?  He's repeatedly stumbling over the words.

It makes me wonder if George W. Bush would have done a better job addressing the nation.  Weird.

UPDATE 2 May 2011 00:02: Just had a thought: if we have the body, we have his possessions, which will have considerable Intelligence value.  I hope like hell that this is all being analyzed in real time, and that this won't be the only raid over the next day or two.

UPDATE 2 May 2011 00:10: It seems that we got the SOB a week ago.  It will be interesting to find out what other raids have occurred in the days since, due to intelligence obtained from the bastard's effects. [UPDATE: Nope, seems that it happened yesterday.]

UPDATE 2 May 2011 00:24: As always, the comments at Slashdot deliver:
Awesome! Now will you stop grabbing my balls at the airport?
Heh.  And this one is epic:
rm -f /bin/laden

UPDATE 2 May 2011 00:32: Osama the Dead Terrorist.

Silence! I kill you!!!

UPDATE 2 May 2011 00:39:  And this (from all over the 'netz) is obligatory:
Osama bin Laden went to heaven and was greeted by George Washington, who slapped him and yelled, "How dare you try to destroy the nation I helped conceived?"

Patrick Henry then approached and punched Osama in the nose.

James Madison entered and kicked him in the shin. An angry Thomas Jefferson whacked Osama over the head with a cane.

The thrashing continued as John Randolph, James Monroe, and Robert E. Lee came in and unleashed their anger on the terrorist leader.

Suddenly, as Osama lay writhing in unbearable pain, an angel appeared.

"This is not what you promised me," said Osama.

"Come on Osama," the angel replied. "I told you there would be 72 Virginians waiting for you in Heaven."

I think GW would have BP but Obama did end on the Pledge. I was surprised and pleased.

I am so very happy. We've waited a very long time for this day.

And yes, that speech sucked.

I assume that there are some terrorist assets in place inside the United States and other western countries. Look for some of them to go active in the coming days. They'll want to avenge Osama or make a statement about how we can't win by killing their leaders. It's the nature of the war we're in.

ASM826, I hope you're wrong. I don't think you are.

George wouldn't have been nearly as rehearsed and formal. More likely he would have shoved his fist in the air and said we got the SOB! Seriously though, Obama is so rehearsed and uncaring it's hard to believe him. What the hell is up with him taking credit for giving the commands. Was he there, did he change in to fatigues and go on the search? Give credit to your military and the leaders who basically tell you what is going on and what you need to do...what a punk!

How bad does it need to be for you to describe it so? (!)

The Hot Needle of Inquiry is thwarted. And disappointed. And feeling a bit.....frustrated. Such a hasty departure.

The team who pulled this off, and especially the guy who actually pulled the trigger, will never have to buy a drink ever, ever again.

Who gives a shit about the speech. I am about as anti Pres. Obama as can be but just do not give a rats ass about him. The news that bin Laden is dead is just too great to worry about the minutia and gthe presiden't speech is definitely minutia in light of this news.

Now that he's dead, will the government admit that the Patriot Act is unconstitutional, stop with the warrentless wiretapping, get rid of TSA, etc.? Will they pull out of Afghanistan?

Or will they invent a new boogie-man to scare us with, a new excuse to continue violating our rights domestically, and to continue fighting foreign wars with money we don't have?

Oh, wait. I see they have - we now have to be extra vigilant, because somebody might want to avenge Bin Laden. That should provide an excuse for continued government overreach for several months.

Bin Laden has been irrelevant for years. It's nice he's gone, but the problems with our government remain and are getting worse.
