Forward Operating Base Borepatch

Is now secure.

A new gig has me spending a lot of time in Austin, and so I've set up an apartment.  #1 Son drove out with me, and has settled in to the weight room.  He had never had brisket BBQ before today* and so Rudy's was a hit.

Still tired after 2 long days of driving and unloading, but getting back in the bloggy saddle.

But the new gig is totally cool - the company does an insane amount of videoconferencing, and so it has a living-in-the-future feel to it.  Other than the lack of flying cars ...

* I raised the kids under the Orthodox BBQ liturgy: gotta be pork.

I prefer brisket, myself. Pitmasters consider it the most difficult of the BBQ meats to cook properly. I'm glad you're able to get it so readily.

Georgia, now Texas? Better watch out, pretty soon you'll be buying a small chunk of sand in the South Pacific and re-naming it Liberoanarchisland...

Could I visit when you do?

Liberoanarchisland...

I can imagine my converation at the immigration office.

"Hi. I'd like to apply for a visa."
"Name?"
"Dave."
"Occupation?"
"Software engineer."
"Are you carrying any weapons?"
"No." Immigration agent glares, hands over a revolver. "Yes."
"Visa approved. Welcome!"
