How many years ago did I last pay for an OS upgrade as a Mac user? 3 or 4? And each update tends to be faster on supported hardware .. so umm yeah ...

Been running Linux since 1995, when very few people knew what it was.

Went from free downloads, to buying boxed sets to support the cause, and now back to free downloads.

And yep, plenty of free stuff!

I'm frame one and two.
Linux at home, winders at work.
Winders updates are a total crap shoot.
Linux: Hmmm, computer is running a nanosecond slower than usual...oh, updates just downloaded. K, click update, 30 seconds later done.
Winders, please do not turn off your computer while 98 updates install.
screw it, I'm going to bed.
