Woah

Live RPG removed from soldier on operating table

The helicopter pilot broke the rules flying him back (you're not supposed to take patients containing live ordnance on the bird), and the surgeon broke the rules taking him into the ER (ditto).  Everyone decided they wouldn't just stand back and watch him die.

From 2006. (via)

There was a similar story, when I was over in Af-stan (09-10), except they removed a live 14.5mm HEI round from the head of an Afghan soldier.

Wow, that is absolutely crazy. A lot of people took risks, and it looks like to paid off.

Glad he is still here with us.

God is not finished with that man. Or those that showed extreme courage to work on him.

What a story, from every angle.

It's a stunning story. Every single one of them deserves all the accolades that can be given. And I need to ponder what I did to deserve to inhabit the same country as them.
