L'affair TJIC is but the latest in a lamentably regular string of reminders that the Police are never working on your behalf when they "would like to ask you a few questions". Ever.
It's a crying shame, really. I was raised to think that the Police were there to help. That America no longer exists, and hasn't for a long time.

This video and the second part are permanently installed on my iPhone and frequently played to people who still don't get it.
Only now even if you don't say anything - that can be used against you too.
You have to immediately say "On the advice of my lawyer, I'm invoked my 5th amendment right to remain silent. Am I free to go now?".
Concur!!! And it IS truly sad...
oh holy hell.
I've been rehearsing this:
"Per Miranda v Arizona and Salinas v Texas I hereby invoke my right to remain silent under the Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution; I will not answer questions or provide information until I have conferred with my attorney and my attorney is present; I do not consent to any searches or seizures. Am I being detained or am I free to go?"
It always KILLS me when my wife watches her 'police procedural' shows...even the ones I like such as 'Bones'...people talk TOO much.
Heck...one of the things I got out of 'Unintended Consequences' is that you should never say ANYTHING...just sit there with your mouth shut.
