When my dad was a kid in the 1930's, his mother would visit the butcher every Friday morning. She bought up all the feet and they went into the Sabbath soup pot. FWIW, the butch didn't have a chiller ... he kept his chickens in a pen behid the shop. As the story goes, Grandma Elsa would go out back and pick out two chickens to also go in the pot. No school like old school.
