It is telling, though. The photo that is.
All I have to say is someone at the White House Press Office enjoys making the man look bad, and Obama is helping that person out...
The second picture on the whitehouse.gov site (of Obama and Biden in shirtsleeves and the guests in coats), after a few seconds of thought isn't so bad. I can well believe that both of the guests would have declined to take off their coats, and Obama is famous for not wearing his coat.
Obama is the prow of our ship, always looking and leading forward, He doesn't need to look back.
(He makes such good Marxist copy.)
