I'd guess he had a BAD case of buck fever.
He missed what looks like a DEAF deer.
Looks like shooting from a tree stand, so he probably shot over the deer. Shooting at an angle whether up or down means a different point of aim.
I guess he should have practiced shooting from that stand, eh?
Zero the rifle at or very close to the range you intend to shoot. Use the the same ammo you intend to hunt with when you zero the rifle. You can see the rounds impact the dirt. He's shooting high left.
