Exploding in a shower of radioactive clowns

Lawrence has a good summary of the New York Times story on Brett Kavanaugh.  Err, no fair peeking at the post title to see how it ends.

He covers the bases quite nicely.  Really the only question left is "why did they think they could get away with it?"  I think it boils down to the poison that the media has fed to the Democrats has now infected them.

UPDATE 18 September 2019 09:50: Two very old posts of mine are pertinent here:

Malinformed

Biased Media makes Democrats stupid

That last one is interesting.  Doing a Google search for "site:borepatch.blogspot.com Biased Media makes Democrats stupid" does not include this post in the search results.  The same search on Duckduckgo has it as the #1 search result.  Bias is making Google stupid, too.

Another reason to use duckduckgo.

When I google it, you are first.

When I click on the Google link, the Borepatch main page is first, but the specific post is nowhere to be found, at least on the first couple of pages. On duckies-a-go-go, the specific post is right there at the top.
Adding quotation marks to the search term in the Google search gets the specific post right up front. So, for some reason, if you don't specify that you want the exact phrase, the page that exactly matches the search term is somehow considered less interesting than lots of partial matches.

Literacy tests aren't actually literacy tests, they are tests on the Constitution. At least the one I took back in the 60s (from MS as I recall)was. I believe that exhibiting Constitutional knowledge as a prerequisite for voting is a good thing, not a problem. The way it was used to discriminate is that the local officials got to decide who had to take the test. It worked like shall issue. That is easy to fix.

It is possible that Tancredo didn't know this. Few people do.
