FEMA: you'd think that they'd be a little more humble after Katrina

Blackfork brings a must-read about a community response that beat the Texas wildfires, and how FEMA not only didn't help, but threw a hissy fit because the community was too busy saving the local school to kiss their asses.

If we're looking for ways to reduce the deficit, I have a suggestion where some money could be found.  Hey FEMA, don't mess with Texas (communities self-organized to fight a disaster).  And get real jobs, you jerks.

The residents of the NC Outer Banks, who suffered Hurricane Irene last month, aren't looking for a handout, either, and FEMA is bitching about it to the media.

After Katrina, when thousands evacuated to the Astrodome here in Houston, immediately, people were donating items and equipment to the Astrodome and to local churches who were housing hundreds of people.

FEMA got in the way then, too and at first were trying to turn people away.

FEMA is useless.

FEMA, oh boy. There is a story in our local paper about a victim of the Bastrop fires applying for and getting a FEMA grant. She spent the money (surprise). Now they want it back. It appears that they, eh, made a mistake... she wasn't in the areas declared 'disaster'. Her trailer and possessions were all destroyed by the fire (trailer? So what, it was her home).

Sigh. Guess she should have framed that check.

"We're from the government. We're here to help."

Yah. Right.

"I'm from the neighborhood. Better watch your back..."

Get rid of FEMA and the BATFE and a host of loser-departments where the Occupy-This crowd want to get high-paid work.
