Makes me nervous just looking at it, in fact. And is it me, or does it seem that the Large Hadron Collider would get better accuracy if they rifled their barrel?
You explain the four rules and all that plus the whole gravitational slingshot parabola thing, but they still want a smoothbore to shoot at asteroids? What are they, the Duke's gamekeepers?

They DO rifle their barrel... it's just infinitely variable magnetic rifling.
