Yup. You see this line of thought being responsible for a lot of ugly divorces and just general ugliness.

Very little good comes from this sort of thinking. It generally morphs over time, from "I wonder if I'd be happier if I was single?" to "my stupid husband/wife is making me miserable!"

After a person has made you "miserable" for enough years, any action against them can be justified. Including taking their children from them and filing frivolous restraining orders.

The fact is, if you're happy, you'll be happy whether you're single or not. If you're miserable, you'll be miserable if you're single or not (or rich, or young, or thinner, or, or, or)

If you seek happiness THROUGH other things, you'll be largely disappointed, but at least you'll have all those things to blame for not making you happy, instead of having to look at who is truly guilty - you.
