Is this AR-15 any good?

I was out with #1 Son and stopped by Dick's Sporting Goods (I must say that I dig this whole "being on vacation" thing).  They had an AR-15/M4gery from Troy Arms on sale for $799 (down from $1029).  The price seems good, but I've never heard of them before.

Anyone ever run across them?  Is this worth considering?

UPDATE 19 November 2012 17:48: This is screen scraped from their web site:

Looks like I misremembered the list price.  So this is $300 off.  I have to say that I'm tempted now.

Troy is good stuff, and that's a good price.

Uh, yeah. At that price, buy it so fast the ink gets blown off the check handing it to the gunpimp.

OTOH, dump the Troy mag ASAP and replace with PMag or Lancer. With Gen 3 PMags coming out, Gen 2 PMags are blowing out at almost USGI aluminum mag prices.

Troy makes good stuff, and that is a good price for that gun. If you've got the cash, grab it.

The Troy mags should work well, but don't have the track record of PMAGS though. Rumor has it, the M3 (newest) PMAGS may have trouble with the integrated trigger guard on the lower on this rifle.

Dang, if I saw that for $799 I would be in trouble with my wife right about now.....

Yep, Troy is good stuff. If you're in the market it's one of the good names.

Talked to a buddy of mine who is an AR whor... er.. aficionado and he says they are a really good buy.

Never shot a Troy and don't know about them but the 1:7 twist may be something to keep in mind, or not. lol

Sure would like to have one though.

I've found the $799 price quoted on M4carbine dot net today, so you were right about the price in store. Also, the rifle appears to be a Dick's exclusive.
