The Queen Of The World had (yet another) knee operation today. Between her and me, this is 5 operations this year. As you'd imagine, we're pretty tired of surgeons, and so I was pretty over the moon when she was out of the OR in 60 minutes. The procedure couldn't have gone more smoothly (yay!) and she's back at Castle Borepatch now feeling pretty good, all things considered.
And this is the time of year to be home. Here's looking forward to a less exciting 2018.

Happy the surgeons worked out well for you and yours, but I still can't help thinking "Sammich Emergency" any time I hear "The Carpenters".
Five in one year? Five in one lifetime is too much time with a surgeon.
But, yeah, glad to hear she's doing well.

I have seen several of the telepics of the troubles that the Carpenters went through. But given all that, I still wish that Karen were still alive and singing with her brother. Such fantastic songs and beautiful harmonies that they made, and such a wonderful voice she had. You could recognize it the second it came on the radio. One can only imagine the music that they would have put out if she were still around. It makes me pine for all of those who we lost much too young. Jim Croce, Buddy Holley, Bobby Darin, the list could go on and on. Instead, we are stuck with the garbage of some of the stuff out now. I won't name any of them, but of course you know them. Light weights, all. I myself am a musician, from an early age, and after conquering the saxophone in band, I simply watched and learned to play most other wind instruments. then joined a rock and roll band, I learned to play guitars, so I like to say that music is in my soul. So it pains me when I recognize auto tune in the stuff on the radio today. but also, I hear those who can actually sing and are talented and it gives me joy. singers like Lady Gaga, who is very talented, Demi Lovato, is also good, one who I don't like, but is a good singer, is Justin Bieber. He has a great voice, and while I don't get into the teeny bop stuff, he actually does a great job. there are many more who are good, but more who are dismal at best. I miss the old days of Peggy Lee, Perry Como, Nat King Cole, Lou Rawls, Gordon Lightfoot, people who could actually sing and tell a story with their voice.
