Climate Scientists follow the money

In a very literal way:
French government broadcaster France24 claims President Macron’s offer of fifty grants is luring climate scientists away from the US to work in France.
US researchers flock to join Macron’s climate change project
Latest update : 2017-12-13
Eighteen climate scientists, 13 of them based in the United States, were on Monday named the first beneficiaries of the research grants linked to French President Macron’s “Make Our Planet Great Again” project, which will see them relocate to France.
On one hand, I can see why a scientist who is losing his US Government grant (and therefore likely his job) would look for a different (paying) gig.  On the other hand, it's hard to see how claims of "scientific independence" can possibly apply to the research done by these scientists.  The guy who pays the coin is the guy who calls the tune.

Remember this when some idjit blabbers to you about how Exxon has funded "Climate Deniers".

Ever watch a nursing calf when mom decides to walk over to the feed bin? They follow the teat.

Hopefully, they will never come back but will stay in France and help with the long-term project of completely destroying the French economy. One of the amazing things about the French is they have been amazing innovators in many fields. Science, medicine, aviation, automotive , even military. Yet they always seem to lose out to Brits or Germans or Americans. It has got to be the government. It wasn't Stalin who invented over-centralization, it was Louis XIV.
