You can choose your friends

But you can't choose your family. Bah.

It's odd that I've been able to live most of my like without a lot of hating going on, until the last ten years. It can stop anytime, that would be OK.

My mom likes to say "they're your family. You have to love them but it doesn't mean you have to like them"

Brother, I feel your pain. Similar situation, brought to light on the death of my father. My only (unsolicited) advice is "illegitimati non carborundum". Don't let the bastards wear you down. Do what you know to be right and if they have problems with it, well the problem lies with them.

Maybe it's just me but...it seems NOBODY has an intact family anymore. Everyone is divorced, or estranged from their children our spouses or what have you.

Family, marriage...it means nothing these days. Then people wonder why they're sad and lonely.

It doesn't help that these are polarizing times.
