Since January is Hot Country Lady month here at Borepatch, I'll let Tim McGraw vouch for hers, from a 2004 interview with Larry Ling. King asked him how they met and fell in love:
MCGRAW: Pretty much. For me, it happened right away. It took her a little longer. I had to convince here.It Matters To Me (songwriters Ed Hill, Mark D. Sanders) was hit #1 on the Billboard Country Charts in 1995, from the album with the same name. This is an acoustic version; the song starts about 40 seconds in to the video.
LARRY KING: Oh, really? You were the chaser?
MCGRAW: Absolutely. Are you kidding? You seen her?*
Baby tell me where'd you ever learn
To fight without sayin' a word
Then waltz back into my life
Like its all gonna be alright
Dont you know how much it hurts
When we don't talk
When we don't touch
When it doesn't feel like were even in love
It matters to me
When I don't know what to say
Don't know what to do
Don't know if it really even matters to you
How can I make you see
It matters to me
Maybe I still don't understand
The distance between a woman and a man
So tell me how far it is
And how you can love like this
cause I'm not sure I can
When we don't talk
When we don't touch
When it doesn't feel like were even in love
It matters to me
When I don't know what to say
Don't know what to do
Don't know if it really even matters to you
How can I make you see
It matters to me
* The CNN transcript shows this exchange ("You seen her?") as a statement ("You've seen her."), not a question. The transcript is wrong. I was flipping through the channels when this aired, and watched the interview. I was struck by McGraw's response, and thoroughly charmed.
