Glocks are fine, they are the Toyota pickups of the gun world. 1911s are fine too, they are the '68 Mustangs of the gun world. They fill different niches.
If I was carrying a handgun as a job requirement, I would be carrying a Glock (or whatever modern polymer gun my employer mandated).
If I'm going to the range to shoot a match or practice, I'll take my single stack 1911 every time.
I'm thinking that they wouldn't be paying for a basketweave finish on a Glock, so it's probably a retention strap (thumbbreak?) of some sort over the rear of the slide.
The science was settled for me by my training classes. Instructors were agnostic about Glock vs 1911. But I never saw a Glock ( or S&W or Beretta, or Ruger, or SiG or Springfield or even the one Taurus I saw) malf. But almost every time I was at the line I saw a 1911 do that. They have gotten more reliable in recent years but still don't meet my standards.

There's no debate.

Wouldn't own a plastic car,wife or gun.
A duty gun holster with no retention?
I'm no fan of Glocks, but I don't see the point that Sal is trying to make.

The science is settled. :)
