I was out on the Motorcycle, and while waiting in traffic saw a hand lettered sign "Used Book Sale". Well, I'm constitutionally incapable of passing that sort of thing up, and so pulled into the parking lot. It was the Milton (GA) Library raising money. It was late in their display time, and so most of the selection was pretty well picked over.I'm now about half way through Volume VII, which puts me about one volume every 6 months. There's a lot here.
Fortunately, my tastes are a little (ahem) eclectic. I cruised over to the history section, and saw this:
That's The Story of Civilization by Will and Ariel Durant. 10,000 pages of Pulitzer Prize winningoverview of Western Civilization.

Great find. My grandfather gave me his set as a gift. Outstanding
The library book sales happen in may and June in our town and surrounding towns. Every year I add about 40 books to the stack of " books to be read when I have more time and I'm not willing to spend full price for but are worth the $2 the library wants. - Almost all of the books have been donated to the sales by others as they " downsize" -
...... and a lot are still inscribed with " merry christmass/ happy birthday. To. Mom / Dad "
Definitely a winning find.
OK, gotta ask...how did you get them all home on your motorcycle?? Or did you have them put them aside and come back for them?
It is a physical impossibility to either walk by a book store or a library sale without several books following me home. Can't be done. I have tried :)
Nice. I'd like a set myself.
I picked the set up recently at a library book sale on your recommendation. Unfortunately I can't read them until I have them unpacked from moving...
