That symbol turns up in Native American, Southeast Asian, and European indigenous cultures. It was a unfortunate choice by the Nazis that poisoned it for the future. A Hockey team in 1916 could not possibly have known any more than the Boy Scouts or the U.S. 45 Infantry Division what evil that cross would come to symbolize. http://rexcurry.net/45th-infantry-division-swastika-sooner-soldiers.html
Ditto. It was used for hundreds, if not thousands of years for various purposes. I seem to remember a kefluffle in Hull several years back involving this. The building, originally constructed in the 1920s had a tile floor with some swastika like patterns in it. In the 1990s some person got their knickers in a twist because a town hall in a town with a fairly high percentage of Jewish residents still had the same tile floor as they had had for 70s years. I think in the end the weak kneed town fathers gave in and had the floor redone.

Look at the date: 1916. Before Herr Schicklgruber got his paws on it, the swastika was considered a good-luck symbol.
I noticed you didn't come even a little close to touching the South Park censored "Bear" yourself version.

Historical perspective. Some people lack it.
