Disco shoes

I never had the Platforms, back in the day.  Didn't really need them.  The polyester disco shirts and chains?  Yeah, 2cents and me looked good.

Well, the Silicon Valley Redneck (there are any of those?) says that this is trying to make a comeback. Angels and ministers of Grace, defend us:
... well, up until a few years ago, I often wore shoes with the normal amount of heel for, e.g., sneakers, men's dress shoes, or jungle boots.
But, having developed an ankle problem that was aggravated by such things, I now wear, basically, the flattest darn shoes I can get.  (Though not the silly things from a few decades back, with the toe lifts.)
Far from drag, men are choosing heels for the same reason as women - to feel good
Riiiight.  Feel good.  Ow.  Ow.  Ow.  Ow.
Heh.  Click through for the link to the fashionista site.  And it makes me think somehow of John Wayne.  Wonder what he'd say ...

IMO, sorry, but no. The born-genetically-males who are "choosing heels" are probably the same metrosexuals who carry man-purses (ok, man-bags), go to hair stylists (not barbers), and spend much of their time in "in" bars. My daughter, a fantastic artist and ABO optician who is the GM for a couple of upscale optical shops in LA keeps me well-informed on the hi-fashion world, and even she laughs at some of the inane stuff that the hi-style wannabees wear. If anyone knows this stuff, she does.

And she also knows that those same style-conscious fellas wouldn't wear the same clothing in Charleston that they wear in 'Frisco or NYC.

So, (boy) George, you wear your heels and your "man-bag", in a rib joint in Tennessee and let me know how that works for ya. I'll stick with plain old sneakers or my bike boots... which, BTW, I'd also wear in 'Frisco or NYC.

I wear what's comfortable... And a GOOD pair of boots are comfortable...

I suppose if I wanted people to watch my butt while I walk I'd wear heels. But I'm not interested in the attention of anyone who'd watch my butt in the first place.

BTW: my all-time favorite John Wayne quote is from "The Shootist":

“I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.”

Um, yeah. no. Even the suit Neal McDonough puts on in that Cadillac commercial is too Pee-Wee Herman for my taste.
