Image of the year for 2013

Offered without comment on l'affair Snowden, as it needs none.

Other than pointing out that Snowden is on the run, and General Clapper (who perjured himself before Congress) is still invited to the Right Sort of parties.

Via some dudes in Germany, who understand what the Stasi was.

Another appropriate quote:

But Clapper was paid to lie to Congress (and everyone else) while Snowden was paid to keep secrets. Both took the money. Only one is earned it.

if Snowden had used any of the legal or quasi legal means of getting his message out, if he had gone to any of the many IG's that could have done something, if he had reported it to the Senate, anything other then what he did, i would be able to support him, but he is just another criminal, possibly a spy, looking for his 15 minutes of fame.

Bradley, the track record of both the NSA and this Administration (and most of our Senators *cough* Dianne Feinstein (D-Cloud Cuckooland) *cough*) explain all you need to know about his history.

I think he's a hero, and would rather see the President fire the people at the NSA who did this than have the DoJ try to jail him.

Your mileage may vary, of course. But I used to work at the NSA before it went feral. What they're doing is criminal, and cannot be reformed, only broken. See my recent post on #burnittotheground.

Would you like a Banana with that Republic?
As for the large spying stuff they went totally wrong was forgetting the NSA spied on the UK and GCHQ spied on the USA and by doing this both governments had deny-ability. Of course behind the scenes they gave each other access to the information. It would appear that the last few administrations have gotten very very stupid and arrogant.

Bradley;

Consider this:

The IG and the NSA thought that what they were doing was perfectly legal. All of the federal government did. Say Snowden goes through channels and blows the whistle to the IG. What then?

I’ll tell you what. He gets a sternly worded letter from the IG telling him to mind his own goddamned business if he knows what’s good for him, and it goes no further than that.

Snowden did the only thing that could have possibly worked to bring about change to the program. I am not trying to poke your eye here, but you’re very naive if you think otherwise.
