Puddlejumper

I'm perhaps a bit unusual ("perhaps?", I hear you snicker) in that I don't mind flying puddlejumpers - regional jets are decently comfortable (no middle seat) and often offer much more convenient connections.

But I've never flown one over the Rocky Mountains before. If we only get half way to Denver, it's been fun hanging out with y'all.

UPDATE 21 April 2010 18:05: Bluesun in the comments was spot on - it was fine, and more comfortable than the 757 that brought me to Boston.

Growing up in MA and MD near the Shenandoah, I thought I knew what mountains were.

Then I went west to the Rockies.

I didn't know the east coast had mountains; most of what I've seen in movies and pictures we would call foothills around here.

I think orxer should be a word. I'll use it in a sentence.
"He was going 70 miles an hour when he hit the tree and his car was completely orxered."

Or

"Once Pr. Obama got his legislation passed, there was nothing to do except watching the orxering."

or

"If you fall off the roof and orxer yourself, don't come crying to me"

Did yours have the leg holes for you and the rest of the passengers to give the plane a running start?

Word verification: "bemana"...

...sounds faintly like an insult aimed at the white horse...

You reminded me of the stories about the pioneers who, when in sight of the Rockies announced, "We'll be sleeping in the mountains tonight!" and then kept trudging for another week before getting to the mountains.

I fly over these mountains all the time. Those little Regional Jets are pretty slick--I (being 6'5") actually enjoy them more than the big planes--I just seem to fit better. You'll be fine.

Delta used to fly Embraers into Albuquerque when I lived there. They were ok, except for the one time the pilot did a 45 deg. bank. Must have flashed back to his F-16 days...

A puddlejumper with jet engines? Redo from start. Check out the 1985 Christopher Reeve movie " The Aviator".

BobG,

All our eastern mountains are old, retired mountains. They were working hard to make sure that your western mountains could have a bright future back before dinosaurs foarmed the earth.

If you want to have some fun, go helo flying in the mountains with an adventurous pilot. Like a roller coaster, but better.
