We came from WV in 1960, I grew up in MD, then went back. I don't remember anyone ever doing blackface. But then, umtil recent years I never heard anyone say it was ok to kill a baby after it was born, either.
I am LOVING all this. Virginia politicians were all bluster and thunder for the Sunday news shows, how something has to be done and they're going to start impeachment proceedings first thing today.
Now it's all "Well now, hol' on there jus' a dog-gone minnit!" Seems they've got the word not to rush to judgement just yet. After all, it's nuthin' more than good ol' boys havin' a little fun, is all.
Does anyone think they'd mind if I called Virginia Democrats a bunch of mealy-mouthed, two-faced, hypocrites?
Whether we condone it or whether we don't, the bottom line is that blacks could start wearing "whiteface" and everyone would think it was hilarious. This is a country of immature, overly sensitive idiots that seriously need to grow up.

The only "blackface" I remember seeing (growing up in Michigan), was on TV in Shirley Temple movies.
