In America in the year 2018, burning the flag is acceptable speech while flashing an OK sign is not.I would add that it is not OK for the officers to throw their troops to the wolves. The Coast Guard has tried for years to be considered a fifth branch of the military. They have not learned that loyalty is earned. The hierarchy that allow this has disgraced their entire service with their cowardice. They need to go.

Another day another reason to believe I’m living in some sort of theatre of the absurd simulation.
It simply can’t be real life that anyone really believes that’s a “white power” sign.
The OK sign is an established component of SCUBA visual communication protocol. Thumbs up means something entirely different.
There are people who want it to be a White Power sign because they need something to raise Cain about, and they "ain't got nothin'".
Rich is correct: the OK sign means OK. A thumbs up is a way of signalling to other divers that you want to go to the surface, usually because of a problem. We refer to it as "thumbing a dive," as in: "I was having trouble with my regulator, so I thumbed the dive."
A thumbs up with the thumb into the palm of the other hand means something else.
Sigh... teh stoopid is growing... And yes, they should go!
I watched the video just now after reading this.
It was as subtle as when Obama gave us the finger.
He was up to something.
Until the Kavenaugh hearings, I didn't know there WAS a WP hand gesture and still didn't believe there was one.
So why did he do it?
I don't know.
