Study: Violent video games do not cause violent behavior

I've posted before about scientific studies that show no link between violent video games and actual violent behavior.  But this seems to be an ever green idea for idiots and gun banners, so here we go again.  Now it's a new study from the Max Plank Institute in Berlin:
A new, longer-term study of video game play from the Max Planck Institute for Human Development and Germany's University Clinic Hamburg-Eppendorf recently published in Molecular Psychiatry found that adults showed "no significant changes" on a wide variety of behavioral measures after two straight months of daily violent game play.
In other news of the obvious, Quentin Tarantino films don't lead to increased murder and Rock n' Roll lyrics don't lead to satanic worship.  Tipper Gore hardest hit ...

You'd think that people would finally catch on to this.  You'd think wrong, I guess.

Boot note:  I've posted rather a lot in the past about the Max Plank Institute.  Most surprisingly when their scientists told politicians to cool their jets on Global Warming, but most humorously here where they really screwed up the cover page of their magazine.  Whoo, boy.

While violent video games have not been shown to cause violence, some spree killers in training have used violent video games to prepare for their event.

Source, Jerry?

I've said it before: there is NO relationship between gun ownership and gun crime - one way or the other. No relationship between poverty and violent crime. No relationship between satanic music and violent crime either. They are totally independent variables. If we want to be honest, there is a correlation between the perps and their tendency to come from single parent families. Possibly the abuse of psychotropic drugs may also figure in to others. I personally believe the fame and notoriety the mass media plays into that but I have no stats. Nor do I trust the cooked 'studies' the left is so fond of.

For some reason, only a shrinking demographic of Americans seem willing to acknowledge that evil walks the earth, and that the only defense against it is preparation, strength and focus. I cannot, for the life of me, fathom how a rational adult would recommend disarmament when the cop on the scene failed and when the FBI failed. Darwin and Murphy are not kind to organisms that won't defend themselves.

Jerry, your argument could also be applied to AR-15s because a mass shooter used one.

That idiot Grossman is responsible for perpetuating a lot of this nonsense.

The effect of violent video games on adults is of less interest to me than their effects on the young, developing brain. And not just the violence aspect of it. I see so many kids in this "digital" generation who can't parse a decent sentence, can't speak with any inflection, don't make eye contact well or stick to a single idea for very long. It's reality now this virtual world. The effects are a mixed bag. Mostly I don't like it and by the way, you darned kids get off my lawn!

That would imply that they actually turned off their devices and went outside on occasion.

Grrrrmupfh.
