School Shootings - only some are remembered

The Only Ones were the only ones with guns that day.  On a campus, no less.

Yep, and still questions about who actually fired the first shot... FBI informant Noonan is suspected of firing his pistol prior to the guard shooting. But it wasn't convenient for that little detail to come out at the time... Sigh

I still cannot see that picture without my BP rising sharply.

I've met people on both sides of that event. They all agree that someone among the students fired a pistol first - the Guard had none. They also agree that the students had been rioting the previous two days, were marching against the Armory with the stated intent of burning it down, and stated that they were going to attack the nearby munitions plant next. Where many of the Guard's parents worked.

What people forget is that the Guard were backed up against a fence by the riotous mob. They had retreated and retreated, and couldn't back up any more.

Twenty-eight guardsmen fired (we think) 67 rounds from their M1s. They killed four students and wounded nine others, some of whom had nothing to do with the demonstration.

Had these same guardsmen fired 67 rounds and produced 67 dead demonstrators, I'd have absolutely no problem with the event. Only a true moron or a would-be martyr throws rocks at a group of soldiers with loaded M1s, although I think one was armed with a .45 pistol. But that's not what happened.

I don't care who fired first. If anyone thinks a thrown rock isn't lethal, let them stand in the open and I'll whiz a few rocks at 'em. See what they think when I hit 'em.
