Jack Ingram is one of the many ten-year "overnight sensations" - his first album (Jack Ingram) was in 1992, but it wasn't until 2007 that he hit the big time with This Is It. His music is pretty representative of "crossover" country rock. This isn't great art, but it's fun, and up-tempo, and doesn't hide its attitude. In a way, it's classic rock 'n' roll, as it used to be Back In The Day.

I really like that song. Ingram actually made quite a name for himself down here in Texas before he decided to head to Nashville. (In certain places he and several other singers and bands can pack the house like Kenny, Tim and Keith do everywhere else.) For a taste of Ingram really in his element, I highly recommend the Unleashed Live cd he recorded down at Gruene Hall (in the tiny town of Gruene, 35 miles north of San Antonio) with Charlie and Bruce Robison. I like what I've heard of Ingram's Nashville stuff. (Much more so than Pat Green's Nashville music, but that's another rant entirely...)
Oh, and I might add I heartily disagree with the Amazon reviewer's opinion of Ingram's portion of the disc. "Travis County" and "Barbie Doll" are my two faves on the whole disc. "...I'm packin' up my ride, and what's left of my pride...Kiss my ass goodbye, I'm drivin' soooouuuuuth...."
