Tom Lehrer - A Christmas Carol

This is perhaps the most cynical Christmas Carol ever written.  Perhaps.  I have a different one - a redneck one - for tomorrow as a comparison.

But if you have local businesses, please patronize them this (never ending Covid) season.  Amazon makes so much money that they're branching out to space tourism.  Your local guy will keep the money here on Mother Earth.

But I want to see humanity get off this planet! Or at least, for us not to have all of our eggs in this one basket we call Earth.

And I'm happy to shop local, if I can find what I'm looking for local. These days, that can be difficult.

Dwight, I don't think you'll be supporting manned space flight, I think you'll be supporting manned yachting:

Borepatch, don't overlook Green Chri$tma$ by Stan Freberg. Talk about cynical and heartwarming all at the same time.

You're not going to believe this, but I recently fell onto a concrete floor, my garage, onto my back, from a standing position. I must have hit my head pretty hard because aside from being in extreme pain my wife told me what day it was.
This is my first day up, still very much hurting, and I don't know where three days went. Gone. I thought my wife was kidding, but no.
So I came to Borepatch, as I usualy do, to catch up and saw your remnder about Stan Freberg. I'm 76 and have many memories, rekindled by watching almost 2 hours just now, not the least of which was the Chun King show.
Hell of a wakup call!

Unfortunately, here in southwestern/central Ohio, too many of the small stores that I have done business with in the past are requiring proof of the NotVaxx, and also require all customers to wear masks at all times. This includes most gun stores, hobby shops, and pet stores. Most of the big chains have stopped the push(Kroger is a notable exception, p!ss be unto them). Few restaurants have opened for dine in, and most of those require masks.
I'd like to support local businesses, but when I can go online and buy the stuff I want cheaper and without hassles, why waste the gas? And my wonderful wife doesn't like it when I get snarky with imbecilic sales staff who would be better employed cleaning bathrooms at meth houses.
As to music, my all time favorite Christmas song is still Weird Al's Christmas at Ground Zero. There's something about the Yuletide season that brings out the nuclear war fan in me...
