Maybe we are living the the future after all

It's the 21st century, and we have space probes going to asteroids:

And flying cars go on sale next month:

Hat tip: A Large Regular.

Sometimes the future is stupid, but sometimes it can be very futurish indeed.

Jetpacks...I was definitely promised jetpacks.

And flying cars requiring both an FAA license, and coming with a Lamborghini price tag while delivering Volkswagen performance in either performance envelope probably aren't going to take the world by storm.

But it's a step in the right direction.

Like driverless cars though, the first time some clown creams an overhead power line and shuts down traffic for hours, the experiment will bottleneck rapidly.

Wallows on the landing approach, hard to see passing cars on the road (even with the very LONG side-mirror extensions), and parallel parking is a bitch.

Having said all that: "That looks like fun!"

I have a suspicion that those cars will be bought by people who fit one of these two equations:

Buyer = money > brains

Buyer = money > skill

Or both...
