I'm not sure I trust that Donald Trump fellow

He has a particular way of talking that avoids the issue.

I guess I better get used to it - if the Establishment doesn't have him assassinated, he's going to be the next President.

I still think he should simply terminate the primaries now by doing 2 things...
Vow to put Cruz on the USSC, heck senators would likely confirm him just to keep Cruz out of the Senate.
second, pick Kaisich or Walker as his running mate, then he has someone experienced nearby.

Those 2 actions would end the primaries immediately.

Cruz conservatives would flock to Camp Trump because they would know Cruz would be a conservative rock in the USSC for 30 years or more, and they would rather have that than 8 years of his presidency, and Walker/Kaisich could prove that Trump valued cut all governing experience.

Trump could then focus on Billary, and have a landslide win in November when Hillary gets indicted and Biden comes out to run.

Not going to happen, but I would be more comfortable with Trump under those circumstances.

Well what do you want? Someone who lies, or someone who doesn't tell the truth?

Donald Trump is not a republican. He's running his campaign as a caricature of a republican, and the right is eating it up. Stupid party indeed.

I'm leery of him as well. Cruz seems to be making some, but not much, headway against him. If Trump gets the nomination and wins the general election, he won't be the conservative I want to see in the White House, but he'll still be better than the Democrat alternatives.

It's certainly a sad state of affairs.

Am I the only one who thinks of the decline of the Roman Empire as fictionalization by Asimov in his Foundation series?

To me the question comes down to are we preserving a corpse by electing Trump who could keep things moving, but as a hollow shell, or do we hasten the collapse and push through for a meaningful 3rd party in 4 years. Only history will be able to determine which path was right.

People keep telling me to hold my nose and not vote my conscience, because to vote my conscience leads to the end of the Republic, but I am not certain it is not time for this grand experiment to end and see what arises from the ashes.

Understand, I do not think Trump will be bad for the country in the short term, in many ways I think he may be good for the country for a short term, but he is not a conservative and I just wonder, again, do we burn it all down, push for Sanders as a 3rd party candidate, then get behind a secession movement and be declared traitors to the Republic while trying to preserve a kernel or ultimately destroy the Republic while claiming to try and save it.

I would welcome a discussion at length on such matters.
