I predict this attack on Trump will only bolster Trump's support.
The implication that he's all buddy-buddy with Putin and likes government single-payer health care will resonate with some on the left.
That the attack comes from Romney, of all people, will resonate with some on the right... and backfire spectacularly, causing those on the right to like Trump even more.
I'm not a Trump fan, but any attacks directed his way only shine more attention on him, which he leverages into more support.
