The world's largest hacking conference, held since 1993 and lately drawing in as many as 30,000 attendees, has been held in venues owned by the Caesars Entertainment for well over a decade. According to conference founder Jeff Moss, AKA Dark Tangent, the hotel and casino operator has unexpectedly canceled the con's booking for 2024 with no warning nor explanation.Weird. But DEFCON will continue, at the Convention Center.

Caeser's entertainment has already been hacked. I think last year.
"Caesars Entertainment said in a United States regulatory filing on Thursday that it suffered a recent data breach in which many of its loyalty program members' Social Security numbers and driver's license numbers were stolen, along with other personal data."
One of the many DEFCON rumors is that Caesars insurers said to them, "You were hacked last year, You took a big financial hit. And you want to invite another bunch of hackers into your facilities? Pull the other one: it has bells on."
(And, yes, I know there's a big difference between the typical DEFCON attendee and the typical ransomeware/cracker type that was probably behind the Caesers thing, But do you think their insurance companies understand that?)
