thats a sign of the times I bought a 960? lot and it was $192 delivered. only about 18 years ago. bought quite a few 400 rd cans for $80. so long the good old days.
drjim, your comment made me wonder if this ammunition was,in fact, suitable for the Garand. I inquired of the CMP and the CMP promptly replied that yes, indeed it is suitable. Since I had just a few hours before placed my order, I was concerned it might not be. So I was greatly relieved that it is appropriate for the greatest battle implement ever devised. Worst case I could shoot it in another 30'06 (if I had one).
Interestingly enough, there were several sources from the Internet of Misinformation stating it was NOT suitable for Garands. So the answer is to go to the correct source for your information.Thank you CMP. And thank you Borepatch for the tip -- the CMP sales site has been down for a while. The shipping cost to NH was reasonable as well.
I still have a bunch of the Greek ammo in clips, which was a lot cheaper back then of course -- always buy when you can, I say. You know it will not be cheaper in the future.
Glad to help, libertyman. I've got some of the Greek ammo, a can or two from the Lake City people, and a bunch of "other". Best "deal" I ever got was from the CMP. I bought 800 rds of Hornady Match Grade ammo specifically loaded for the Garand. It was a buck a round!

$1/round for 30-06 in a Garand Loading isn't bad at all.
