Bump Stocks* no longer illegal?

Divemedic has the news.  Interesting.

And note that the President at the time this rule went into effect had an (R) after his name.

* My opinion is that bump stocks are dumb and I don't want one, but I also don't want the Fed.Gov changing laws illegally either.

I agree with your opinion on bump stocks and they do not make a rifle any more dangerous.

I will use my gun how I see fit, as the constitution does not have exceptions. bump stocks are just a different way to hold and operate the gun. Not much different than fanning the hammer on a single action revolver offends some. All gun laws are infringement.

I don't want one and I don't see what difference it makes if it makes a weapon "more dangerous" (measured and described by what metric?), I don't think it's up to the government, from whom we are to protect ourselves, to regulate what we have.

Not exactly, this ruling only applies to the 5th Circuit; several other circuits have ruled the opposite, so legality depends where in the country you live.

Because there are conflicting Ciruit Court rulings odds are eventually the SCOTUS will take up the issue. If they do soon the prohibition will likely be overturned. If they wait till Thomas et.al retire and are replaced by whatever Demonrat is infesting the White House than not only will bump stocks be permanently banned pretty much ALL firearms will be.

Yeah... bump stocks are dumb, but so is banning them.
They apparently make it easier to turn money into noise and fun, but seem kinda useless for any serious purpose either good or evil.
(Look up expected performance on the "Mad Minute" drill using a SMLE, and explain how inaccurate quasi-full-auto fire is supposed to increase the body count in a clock-tower scenario.)

And letting the Executive Branch make up "laws" on the fly is just nuts.

I am fed right up. They can legislate whatever they want. Unless they can enforce it… it means nothing to me. I will no longer be complying with any further gun legislation.

i'm with glen. once they "suspended" enforcement of certain laws that net more minorities and "suspended enforcement of anything during covid, i gave up following their law. i obey my laws now. jefferson did not want mala prohibita laws to begin with. who am i to argue with jefferson?

So the court banned Trumps bump stock ban........
I can't WAIT till the 0biden administration goes to court to fight FOR it.

Binary triggers would seem like a better approach for significantly increasing rate of fire anyway. Easier to maintain aim when you don't have to move the entire gun.
