This looks like a movie I'd like to see

Dan Carlin of Hardcore History has an hour long interview with Hanks about the film, the book, and how Hanks is a big fan of Carlin.  You can get it here.

Okay. They didn't have me before, but they do now.

I actually bought the book after listening to the Dan Carlin interview.

Don't have Apple TV and have no plans to get it so could be while before I see the movie.

Not a Hanks fan but the wife has a free year of Apple TV after buying her Mac. One of the best movies I've seen in quite a while.

Here's a short description of the real action in the North Atlantic.
DD-215 USS Borie versus U-405.

Used to like Tom Hanks, until he opened his mouth on politics.

An excellent movie, well worth signing up for Apple Plus for $10 a month. Think of it as less than a movie ticket. Then look at what else they have and if you don't like it, cancel.

I enjoyed it, though Tom Hanks' performance was not inspiring. I thought one of his other many Captain roles - Captain Phillips - was a wonderful job. A workman like appearance in this one, and the special effects are amazing.
