No surgery for now

Hurts like crazy but the collar bone looks like it might heal in a sling.

That IS good news!

Hang in there, pal. And be glad that it's just one shoulder...wiping your backside'd be a real project if you'd managed to break 'em both. (Just a thought to let you know that it's never as bad as it could be.)

That is great news!

Glad to hear it's not likely to need surgery. I did a serious collarbone break two years ago, and we avoided surgery (although afterwards, the surgeon said, "I was wrong -- if I had known your recovery would have been this long, I would have recommended surgery." ;-)

Glad to hear you're on the mend.

Good. Surgery sucks.

Heal well. Take the time to make sure you're good before you go hurt yourself again.

That is good news. Hope it heals quickly.

That is good news, Borepatch! Those of us that have had broken bones know that ribs are the worst. Prayers continuing for a speedy and full recovery.

Broken ribs are no fun. Stay as quiet as you can. I'd recommend Kipling, Sun Tzu,and old blog posts with bacon at HOTR, preferably with someone to cook bacon nearby. (topless is good)

Thanks for the update via email. The book went out to Joe O. via UPS air to get there, like yesterday for his donation to Kilted to Kick Cancer. Sorry, we're late, with BP's injury to get your book to you. I just got your info today. - B.

Not being surged on is a good thing. Get well!

Serving bacon topless would be a plus. Cooking bacon topless seems to carry certain risks.

Good to hear you're doing better. Had us all going for a while, I think. Sometimes surgery isn't a bad thing, though.

But take it easy with those ribs.

Good to hear. Take it easy

That's a big plus, BP. Hang in there.

Excellent. No surgery means no chances of infection, and also means that you won't have to be concerned whether a plate or screws may need to be removed later. And no scars.

You'll heal just fine. Give it time.

Good News!

If you're a weakling as I was, pray for IV morphine, which I was on for a few weeks!
Then, we changed hospitals and they switched me to TYLENOL!

NOT the same!

Good healing! Your kidney belt might be an assert to stabilizing internal parts you don't want shaking around, depending on which ribs are broken.

Did the collar bone thing once upon a time. I did not do it with the enthusiasm that you seen to have managed. It is amazing what you simply cannot do without extreme pain. Standing up from a chair sticks out as being exceptionally unpleasant in my memory. With the ribs thrown in it must be difficult to find that painless "null".
