From the Department of Do-As-I-Say-Not-As-I-Do

People notice, and remember.

My only comment is that even assuming that everything that Al and Tipper Gore said about music lyrics was true (and it's almost certainly not), nothing that Rock music has done could be remotely as damaging to the lives of the middle class as Al's environmental policy proposals. Mote, beam.

It wasn't. Tipper and the PMRC accused Iron Maiden of promoting satanism with "The Number of the Beast," but the protagonist was dreaming about running into a satanic ritual -- and if you listen to the song, it's quite clear he was looking to get the fuck out of there. "This can't go on, I must inform the law." Doesn't sound like advocacy of devil-worshipping. Like I said on Facebook a while ago, it strikes me that all those who thought Iron Maiden's music was satanic just weren't intelligent enough to see it for what it is.

And re: Dee Snyder. I'll start listening to what he has to say when he apologizes for supporting Øbama.

"I Want Barack" *indeed*...

(mumbles something about kissing his hairy Italian ass)
