Acting SECNAV makes two new envelopes

Don't let it hit you in the ass on the way out, Scooter:
Acting Secretary of the Navy Thomas Modly has officially resigned, capping perhaps the most tumultuous 24-hour public relations period the Navy has encountered.
Modly notified Secretary of Defense Mark Esper of his resignation Tuesday following a meeting between the two, the Wall Street Journal reported.

...
Modly’s resignation offer comes less than a day after numerous Democratic members of Congress called for his firing over his handling of the dismissal of the commanding officer of the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt, Capt. Brett Crozier, and subsequent decision-making that raised eyebrows throughout the fleet.
Congressional Democrats went after his scalp and I can't for the life of me see why Trump would stick up for the doofus.

The politics of the military, from my perspective, are a twisted jumble of truth, integrity, and bureaucracy. It seems to me the best will be crucified to complete the careers of the incompetent. That's not good, but if I had to guess, it's been the same as long as there has been a military.

Modly opened his big mouth about Crozier.
I knew he was gone after that.
Trump took care of business.

@Jess: There is a story about how, during the attack on Pearl Harbor, a bomb damaged the brig and allowed some of the prisoners to escape. They manned a machine gun and engaged the attacking aircraft.

Modly was apparently a shitbird from day one. Hard-charging helo drivers aren’t sent to fly UH-1s with the Air Force.

I've followed this bizarre story and Modly doesn't come off well. You know the words, "Too stupid."

Now he's gone.

Hope all those sailors are ok.

The higher ups must read your blog, you must have more influence than you may know. Borepatch says he must go, and he is gone.

Blogging is a power that I know you will use only for good.

Still want to see background on Crozier. If Democrats are supporting him, one has to entertain the idea that he is Vindmann revisited.

libertyman, they do if they know what's good for them, LOL. After all, I have The Queen Of The World in my corner ...

Richard, we have family serving on his ship and the crew loves him. I'm convinced that Crozier sent a series of increasingly urgent memos about the situation and that the Pentagon Brass sat on them. Modly was mad that he got exposed.

Good riddance... BP, hate to tell you but the COC was NOT sitting on the memos. You don't shit 4000 beds overnight on Guam.

Old NFO, not if you don't want the island to tip over!

Let me understand, the co of one of the ten carriers used open channels to report on the status of his command. A crime in anyone's book. How can anyone defend this doofus?

This moron was ordered to Vietnam but he could have restricted the personnel to prevent shore leave, he did not. As part of a carrier task group why haven't we heard of the rest of the group having the same problems? Could it be that the other captains weren't as "enlightened" as this Obama appointee? Further why didn't any of the other captains follow the same method of communicating as this wunderkid?

Defend this loser? Only if you are a loser.
