Easter Morning Music

The LORD is risen, alleluia!  Here is a mix of music worthy of the occasion.

Purcell sets the stage as only he can.

I think that this is my favorite hymn, especially for Easter.

And the celebration ends with a sendoff from Handel's Messiah.

He is risen indeed, alleluia!  Alleluia

Wonderful selections today, yes that hymn makes me wish I could carry a tune. I am still a big fan of the pipe organ for church music, there is nothing like it.

My old church is gone, the congregation has died off.The rendition by Hereford Cathedral Choir - Jesus Christ is risen today was wonderful and reminded me of my old church. We had some great soloists in our choir and they always did a good job.

Have a joyful Easter for you and yours.

Libertyman, I think all of our old congregations have dies off. The Hereford Cathedral video dates to the 1980s or 1990s - no doubt it also has died off.

The singers pass on to glory, but the songs last forever. We sang that tune today, with lyrics provided by Charles Wesley, as "Christ the Lord is Risen Today"
